A statistical way to propose to someone is to solve a maximum likelihood problem and show her you are the UNIQUE UNBIASED MLC (maximum likelihood candidate) for her life long husband. There are infinitely many solutions of the problem and the optimum solution under certain circumstances is completely subjective.
